Deceased chaplain performs miracle?

zombie jesus from atheistnexus.ning.com

Chase Kear of Kansas recently survived an athletic injury and his survival is being called a "miracle." Chase fell on his head at pole vaulting practice and had to undergo a procedure to remove part of his skull. The doctor claimed Chase had a slim chance of surviving.

Paula Kear said, "Chase survived in part because hundreds of people prayed to Father Emil Kapaun to intercede on his behalf."

Father Emil Kapaun died in 1951, yet he's performing miracles? I think not. Just the notion of that being possible is ridiculous. Where's the credit to the doctors and nurses who are the reason Chase is alive? Without them no god or chaplain or anyone else could have saved Chase; he would be dead.

Now the Vatican has gotten involved to investigate this supposed "miracle" to determine whether or not it qualifies as a miracle, so that Kapaun might be named a saint.

Incidents such as this make me wonder when people will realize you don't need god or prayer, what we need is other people. Doctors saved Chase, not a dead guy.

One wonders how insulted doctors and nurses feel every time something supernatural — and non-existent — steals their credit.

"too bad he didn't die"? seriously? you must be a real class act...

What's funny is that if you read into the story the doctor that did the procedure is one of the people being questioned. He himself said that he couldn't take all the credit and that it was truly a miracle. You've taken an inspiring story, regardless of the religious beliefs involved, and completly miscued it into something completely different. Opinions are like @#$holes everyone has one, but yours stinks.

Yall Atheist claim your not evil and you reject God. what do you think your doing if your wishing that he would die, your no better person than than anyone else.It was the Doctors own words that he could not take all the credit, cause he knew the man didn't have a chance of living but through prayer God did do a miracle. & God is not dead this plainly shows that he is very much alive, thank you Jesus !!

Miracle or not, who the hell practices pole vaulting in October? Sure it is extrordinary that he lived. But seriously Kapaun is dead, so obviously he could have not done anything. As for God in this situation did not save him as to force the suffering upon him for the time of his recovery. I praise the doctors for doing their jobs and that entails, not giving up on the patients. It amazes me how his parents said that they were told daily on how their son wasn't going to make it, and yet they kept praying. What would have happened had Chase not recovered and was dead? Would they blame God, Kapaun, or maybe the doctors? Either way my final statement is that No dead chaplin saved this man, and to believe so is idiotic.

Here's the deal "anonymous"... It wasn't a miracle. And just because a doctor claims he might have had "supernatural" help, doesn't make him right. It just means he's not confident enough in himself to give himself more credit, because apparently he thinks he needs an imaginary dead guy to help him.

I, for one, love the imaginary dead guy theory. BUT, if I'm getting part of my head removed, I'd rather the doc not be talking to his invisible buddy. Thanks.

Sir Christopher, no one with any sence would blame the doctors or God if the man had died. It would have been said it was his time to go & it was God's will for him, But you see there's power in Prayer for christians that Believe in God & who have Faith in him, that shows you that Prayers are being answered By God, Thank you Jesus !!!

Sari, The invisible buddy that you are talking about just saved the mans life, thats proof that the invisible God is not invisible, Amen, still you have the proof & still wont give God credit what ashame. One day you will need him if he doesn't come back before then, and he may not hear you call out to him,for his word says, reject me & I shall reject you, then you will perish in Hell forever, what ashame !!

What I find interesting about this 'event' is the statement that hundreds of people 'prayed to' a dead chaplain. Isn't this a violation of the first commandment?

Harold Shuckhart says: "What I find interesting about this 'event' is the statement that hundreds of people 'prayed to' a dead chaplain. Isn't this a violation of the first commandment?"

Oh silly Harold, the first commandment states that "I am the Lord your God, you shall put no other Gods before me." Nowhere in that statement does it say, "you shall not pray to a priest, or possible saint for help". If this were true there would be no "Hail Mary", or "Prayer to St. Peter". C'mon man, they didn't pray to him as a god, they simply prayed to him for help. Also, no one is saying that what the doctors did for this boy was insignificant, they are just saying that God and Father Kapaun helped out a bit. So, FRANKIE SAYS RELAX, people. Jeez.

Also Harold, get your facts straight first, or you might sound ignorant.
