Saturn entered Libra October 29, 2009 at 1:09 pm est.
Saturn, the planet astrologically known as the planet of karma, entered Libra, the charming harmonizer, this week. After a two and a half year trek through Virgo in which we have seen the limits of health care, economic flow, and wasteful energy, there is a sigh of relief to see Saturn's exit of this detailed, health driven, and over-efficient sign. Saturn is the mythological Cronus, one of the seven Titans. Cronus is derived from chronos meaning Time. Indeed when we speak of Father Time we are connecting to Saturn or Cronus.
Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn, the structured achiever, and is co-ruler of Aquarius, the rebellious humanitarian. This planet is the farthest planet one can see with the naked eye which was once thought the end or limit to the solar system. It's rings also represent limits and confinement. Saturn has associative words such as; restriction, limitation, karma, structure, foundation, time, endings, and lessons. Those with strong Saturn in their natal chart may have physical characteristics that include prominent cheek bones and a long, bony overall structure.
Saturn will transit Libra until October of 2012 with a short retrograde back into the final degrees of Virgo this spring and mid-summer for one last reminder of the Virgo lessons. With Saturn in Libra we can expect to see a new structure in the world of relationships, marriage, and the arts. Lessons in harmony and how we relate to one another are sure to surface. With Saturn comes hard work and tough love, and when worked on with diligence great reward. Where Libra is in your birth chart is where you'll experience Saturn's affects the most in the upcoming years.
