Michael Jackson, the times of his life

"The Best of Michael jackson" album cover

On August 29th Michael Jackson would have been 51 years old. This week his family announced that his burial will take place on September 3, and not on Michael's birthday as first planned. This week also the Los Angeles County coroner ruled that his death was, as his family suspected, a homocide.

And this week the astrological community is still in search of Michael Jackson's correct birth time.

Michael Jackson’s Mother’s Account of His Birth

Michael’s birth is described as following in his mother Katherine Scruse Jackson’s autobiography, The Jacksons: My Family (St. Martin’s, 1990, p. 19-20), in which she states:

"I remember that day well because my water broke while my neighbor Mildred White and I were driving over to see the new grammar school under construction, Garnett Elementary. “Oh, my God, Mildred, I can’t sit in your car like this!” I exclaimed. “Girl, don’t worry about it,” Mildred said, turning the car around. At my request, Mildred drove me home. I called my mother and she and my stepfather drove me to Mercy Hospital. Shortly after I got there, I began having contractions. Later that night, my son was born. “I want to name him,” my mother said. I hated her first suggestion: Ronald.

“How about Roy, then?”

“Oh, my gosh, Mama, no.”

She thought for a little while. “I’ve got it – Michael.”

“That’s it,” I said."

That’s a pretty good account, albeit from a woman who had nine children (a tenth, Marlon’s twin, died at birth). Later on the same page, she accidentally gives Janet Jackson’s birthday as “August 16, 1966?, even though it is well known that it is actually May 16, 1966. For what it's worth, that is the best first-hand account we have, outside from what astrologers have reported.

“The Celebrity Astrology Blog” by Nick Dagan Best

Nick Dagan Best is an astrologer and researcher based in Montreal. Nick began studying astrology in January 1995, and became a full-time professional astrologer in October 2001.

"The Celebrity Astrology Blog" was launched in November 2008 by astrologers Chris Brennan and Patrick Watson, Nick joined the team in June 2008, with his first Michael Jackson article. Which led to this amazing chronological account of Michael Jackson's life.

Investigating Michael's birth-time

Rectifying a birth-time is a very tedious and time consuming process. An astrologer must list every significant event in an individual's biography, then correlate the events to the planetary movements. In his attempt to determine the correct birth-time of Michael Jackson, Nick Dagan Best has included relationship synastry of all the major players in Michael Jackson's life as well as every major event and happening.

For Michael Jackson fans this is a comprehensive view of the progression of Michael's life both in words and images. And if you're also happen to be an astrologer, you will see an amazing example of the process and the difficulty of rectifying the birth moment (just click on the links and you will also find that all the charts have been included).

Currently, Nick has completed 5 parts of his 11 part series. So read, enjoy and bookmark “The Celebrity Astrology Blog”, so you can easily return for the rest of the story.

If you're not astrologically inclined...skip the astrology and just enjoy the life and times of Michael Jackson.

Happy Birthday to you King of Pop, Michael Jackson. There was a great beauty and gentility in Michael’s soul. His talents far surpassed those of his contemporaries and he yearned deeply to make the world a better place. I am saddened that the emotional pain he lived with prevented him from finding the meaning and connectedness which he longed for. Such a huge loss. Michael will always remain deep within my heart, always.

Wow! Who gives a poop that today is Michael Jackson's birthday. There are far more significant events that took place on this day than that. Example: The beginning of the Seven Years War, the abolition of slavery in the UK, the founding of Goodyear, the patent of the first motorcycle, the testing of the first atomic bomb by the USSR... The lost goes on and on. Get a life!

    blahblah,
It seems you've forgotten that for most of his career, Michael Jackson had an "unparalleled" worldwide influence over an entire generation plus, and through his philanthropist and humanitarian efforts he donated and raised raised millions of dollars supporting a multitude of charities including his own "Heal the World Foundation".

Don't underestimate the power of music and the music maker's ability to influence the world.

We listen to music because of the emotions it conjures up, it can take us back to a time when we were younger and life was more carefree. It stirs our passions. It allows us to transcend ordinary life. And the music of any specific era also reflects the history, culture, politics and values of that time.

Music is an integral part of our earth's rhythms, it heals, it excites and it helps us feel, cope and understand. There is a message in music that can't be understood in words alone.

Michael Jackson was a music maker and dreamer of dreams
