
Actor Hiroyuki Sanada in "Sunshine"
The popular Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada is set to join the cast of "Lost" in the TV series' final season as a recurring character.
Details on his character and the number of episodes Sanada will appear in are being kept under wraps.
Sanada, who has done over 70 Japanese feature films, was most recently seen in the U.S. in "Sunshine" as Capt. Kaneda.
"Sunshine" was directed by Danny Boyle and starred Cillian Murphy, Cliff Curtis, Michelle Yeoh, Chris Evans and Sanada as a team of astronauts sent to re-ignite the dying sun 50 years into the future.
The 48-year-old actor also appeared in "Rush Hour 3" alongside action star Jackie Chan as a criminal mastermind who turns out to be his long-lost brother.
Sanada also made a memorable appearance in the Tom Cruise movie "The Last Samurai" as Ujio and was featured in the Wachowski brothers live-action adaptation of the popular cartoon "Speed Racer."
