Because scientists have conducted few studies on asexuality, the Philadelphia Asexuals Examiner feels that he should let his readers know when an opportunity to partake in one takes place. Lori Brotto leads the team of psychiatrists looking into asexuality and making the decision whether or not to include hyposexual desire disorder in the next edition of the DSM.
The survey asks a participant several questions and provides long text boxes in which to type the answer. The questionnaire, which can be found here, may take some time to complete. The user may wish to answer the questions as quickly as possible to keep their browser from experiencing a time out error.
The survey aims to help sex therapist and others reach a better understanding of asexuality and develop a more scientific phenomenon of this orientation. The true/false section of the test fails to account for variations that might occur. The test will not help a person determine if he or she is asexual or not, but it will provide feedback to the people working on sexual desire disorders in the DSM-V.
