Rage: A film from Sally Potter

Cinetic Rights Management

The latest in indie films is Rage, by award winning screenwriter Sally Potter. The plot surrounds the scandals and vanity of the beauty industries. It takes place in New york, in a fashion house, where a student filmmaker is holding interviews that are being filmed on his cell phone. A model ends up being killed on the cat walk which leads the young mans phone to become evidence. The charachters are incredibly witty and dynamic; the variations of charachters are as colorful as the movies vibrant backgrounds.

Rage doesn't have any release dates set but it's sure to pull in hype with it's cast of star studded faces. The cast includes Steve Buscemi, Jude Law, Judi Dench, John Leguizamo, Dianne West, Eddy Izzard, and the beautiful model Lily Cole as Lettuce Leaf. Jude Law proves he really is a pretty face, and much more, as he does a jaw dropping performace as a transvestite supermodel named Minx. Judi Dench's charachter Mona is a firecracker whose cynical and shocking lines include "Is there anything I like about fashion? Of course- it's a brutal immoral business its use of right and wrong, good and bad, simply don't come into it. Which in this current climate of political correctness is extremely refreshing. You see, in evolutionary terms morality is irrelevant, beauty is worshiped infinitely more than goodness. Beauty attracts my job, beauty is power. Which is unfortunate because, in fact, it is surface, surface through and through. When the bloom of youth fades only those graced with the right bones will survive. That's what beauty is becoming in this day of photography, bones, bones that will one day lye in this dusty earth"..

The movie was released for one night at the Berlin film festival and although it has no US release date you can watch it at Babelgum online as a series. A representative for the company has said "Babelgum's exclusive premiere of 'Rage' reaffirms our mission to be the leading online and mobile destination for timely and cutting-edge film".
