It was a great party Thursday night at The Kress in Hollywood for those who attended the latest Latino Professional Network (LPN)’s event. With four floors to go back and forth to, rum and wine tastings, live Salsa music by two of L.A.’s most popular bands – Johnny Polanco y su Conjunto Amistad and Angel Lebron y su Sabor Latino, live rock en espanol, and the option of food at the main floor’s restaurant, there was little chance that the evening could be anything but successful.
Alejandro Menchaca, who founded the LPN in 1999, has been running events like this for years, gathering large groups of Latino professionals in some of the nicest venues in Los Angeles and allowing them to network and become familiar.
The event at The Kress on Thursday was made more significant by Menchaca’s announcement of his intention to run for State Senate of the 22nd District. “This has always been my dream and my goal.” said Menchaca. “All the paperwork has been turned in.” The 22nd District encompasses a part of Los Angeles County, including Alhambra, Maywood, San Marino, South Pasadena, Vernon, Walnut Park and parts of East Los Angeles. The news were celebrated by the LPN attendees, many of whom will doubtless support him on the race towards the June, 2010 elections.
