ConnPirg kicks off fall semester with local bands.

This Friday, September 11th, The Connecticut Public Interest Research Group (ConnPirg) will be hosting an outdoor show located outside the student union. The event will feature six local bands and UConn catering will be providing free food to all students.

The bands performing are Four Circles, Burn The Bell Tower, King Cloud, Ovlov, Obliteration, and Flat-Earth Conspiracy, and each act will perform a 20-25 minute set. Marisa Gumpert, a member of ConnPirg who is organizing the event, thinks the show would be a great way for students to listen to some good music, but also spread the word for a few select groups on campus. Tables will be set up for Students for a Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), WHUS Radio, Free Press and ConnPirg as well. Marisa is also currently looking for any volunteers that would be willing to help with clean up after the show.

“I have faith that this show will be a success because the event actually has a lot of good elements to it,” Marisa said, “Between the free food, the live acts and the opportunity for students to get involved on campus, I really believe that this show will be a hit.”

The concert will begin at 7:00 pm and go until 11:00 pm whether rain or shine. The event can be found on Facebook here, and more information on ConnPirg can be accessed on their official site. Anyone interested in volunteering or helping Marisa out can reach her at (203) 558-9780.
