Bromfield Gallery
There's lots going on in Boston's South End this spring. Some events are being welcomed back from years past, and some are brand new. It all starts Friday, May 1st (5-9pm) with "SoWa Sundays" hosting a Grand Opening Celebration for ten new galleries, stores and design companies who have set up shop in the recently renovated building at 460 Harrison Avenue. The 460 building sits directly across Thayer Street from the artist studios and galleries of 450 Harrison, and is an exciting new addition to SoWa and the South End.
This special event coincides with the May First Friday when studios open for the evening (5-7pm) in the 450 Harrison Avenue artists building. This same night many of the galleries on Thayer Street and Harrison Avenue will also be holding opening receptions for new monthly shows. To entertain you further, "SoWa Sundays" will host live music by Hayley Goff and Chris Parlon and a tango dancing performance from AnaLinda of Tango Embrace.

South End Open Market
"SoWa Sundays" is a new addition to the Boston weekend arts scene. Every Sunday from May 17 through October 25 the SoWa District will be host to three big outdoor markets. The SoWa Open Market is in its 6th year and showcases art and crafts handmade by artisans from all over the Northeast. Two new markets in the same location as the arts market (540 Harrison Avenue) are the SoWa Antiques Market, and the SoWa Food and Produce Market making their debut this spring. Together, these three weekly events make for a very unique shopping experience.
Also a not miss event is the SoWa Art Walk May 16-17 (11am-6pm) where artists throughout the neighborhood open their private studios to let the public in to view and purchase original art.
New arrivals in the neighborhood include Bead + Fiber, Casa Design, Howard Yezerski Gallery, Khaki Gallery, MarsMade, Mohr & McPherson, Peng and Walker Contemporary. Some of the established favorites are Bromfield Gallery, Boston Sculptors Gallery, Gallery Kayafas, Kingston Gallery, OH+T Gallery, Open Studios Press, Samson Projects, and Soprafina Gallery.
