The Artists' Group of Charlestown has two events coming up this weekend in its Stove Factory Gallery at 523 Medford Street.
- Open Studios, where visitors can see original art by the thirty artists who either work in the studios or use the exhibit space to show their work;
- Small Wonders, a unique exhibit of small works of fine art.
It's worth a trip just to see the nineteeth century three-story brick factory building which houses AGC on its first floor. Medford Street has long been the industrial nexus of Charlestown. Some factories, such as the sugar refineries, are shuttered but there is an unmistakable aura of brick and stone work along the blocks of Medford Street, where the Little Mystic River rolls right by.
From Downtown Crossing the 92 & 93 bus stop at Bunker Hill Street and Medford. It's a 5 minute walk to the gallery. It's also a 7 minute walk from Sullivan Square on the Orange Line. There is ample on and off street parking.
The studios will be open Saturday and Sunday 10 to 5.
