Looking for the perfect handmade gift this Valentine's Day?  Try making your own chocolate candies for a sweet treat that is sure to please!

There are many different recipes available online for delectable chocolate candies.  Here are some of my favorites:

  • Chocolate Truffles - From Food Network's Alton Brown, this truffle recipe is flavored with a generous dose of brandy.
  • Chocolate Caramel Turtles - Pecans or macadamia nuts with gooey caramel encased in a chocolate coating.
  • Chocolate Covered Cherries - A Valentine's Day classic!  This particular recipe does not require the use of a candy mold.
  • Peppermint Patties - For those who prefer the smooth, cool flavor of mint with their chocolate, try making these discs of deliciousness.
  • Peanut Butter Cups - Whoever first paired chocolate and peanut butter was a genius.  These treats are easier to make than you would think!

Be sure to make a few extra to allow for snacking while you package the rest up for Valentine's Day gift giving!  Coming tomorrow...  How to make a box for giving your Valentine's Day candies!
