ZoomSwitch: Bridging the gap between your office wireless computer and your PC
is a USB Headset Switch that adds USB functionality to your wireless headset—or any wired headset or handset that is connected to your phone's handset port or headset port (RJ9).
The ZoomSwitch allows you to connect your office headset to your phone and computer at the same time, and switch between the two by pressing the button in the middle. The device allows the user to toggle between the computer and the telephone. The downside to the device is a complete lack of instructions on how to connect it to your headset both on the packaging and on the website. The diagram leaves you guessing, and figuring out the correct configuration can prove to be a lengthy task.
To connect the device:
1. Unplug the line going from your phone to the headset and plug it into the ZoomSwitch port A
2. Connect port B to headset with the phone cord that came with the device. Line to headset plugs into the phone port on the headset device.
3. Connect the USB cable to any port on your computer. Please note that if you are using a docking station, connect the Zoom Switch directly to the laptop.
4. Switch between phone and computer by pressing the middle button. The indicator light enables the user to determine which mode he/she is one: red is for USB, green is for phone.
You are now ready to use your Zoom Switch. Please note that you have to pick up your headset when you want to receive sound from the PC once you switch to USB mode in order to receive sound. When configuring your voice and video for Office Live Meeting or Office Communicator the device will appear as C-media.
The best part of the device is the incredibly low price! The price ranges between $44 to $65.95
. The sound quality is fair and the convenience factor makes it well worth it.
