Totally worth it!  During the summer months when kids are out of school or on a nice fall weekend, the Louisville Zoo offers plenty of things to do all year long!  And it's perfect for the stay-at-home mom looking for fun, creative ways to entertain her kiddos!

In the infant stages, your child probably won't be too interested in the animals or be old enough for the camps, but it's a beautiful setting to pull out that stroller and get in some exercise!

If you have older children, sign them up for Safari Day Camp or a morning Dinosaurs! for Families program.  As a zoo member, you'll receive discounted pricing on classes and camps.

Looking for something the whole family can do?  Pack a cooler and head to the zoo when it opens.  Enjoy the different animals and exhibits, stop at a picnic area and enjoy your lunch outside, and then head down to elephant aerobics or tiger training.

On those hot days when you think a trip to the zoo is out of the question, don't fret - head to the Calistoga Splash Park inside the zoo at Glacier Run which features 42 different sprays including dump buckets and geysers!  With plenty of seating, you can let your children splash and play while you relax with a cool drink from a nearby concession stand.

And for a limited time (daily through October 10th, and then weekends through October 31st) check out the new Dinosaurs! at the Louisville Zoo.  This temporary exhibit includes 16 life-size dinos that move and roar just like the real thing!  There's even a dig-site where kids can see what it's like to be a paleontologist.

Still not sure?  Read on to learn some of the benefits of being a zoo member!  Open year-round for Zoo Members to enjoy the following benefits:

  • unlimited free admission for 12 full months every time you visit during regular Zoo hours
  • free or discounted admission to 125 reciprocal zoos and aquariums
  • 25% off at all permanent concession stand locations
  • 10% off at our Zoo Gift Shops
  • special discounts on education classes, camps and birthday parties
