Zonia Lucille Pulse, remembering a lose

Born 19 July, 1924, Zonia Lucille passed away on 25 November, 2013 fighting the cancer she had once thought was gone. Her children and other family members morn this death as she brought a light into their lives which is now missed. Any personal connection with another means so much to the lives of humans, a race built upon the communications established with others. We then seek to establish, maintain and reestablish this link to the society around us in so many ways. But when one is gone from it we feel this loss, as we know the person was of value to us.
Zonia became my step-mother on February 1999, a situation which until then I had not had to deal with. But she understood there was tension, to know well enough not to push, only give time for both to get to know each other. It was with this time we became closer, for as anyone comes into your life the longer they are around the closer the relationship grows. And it was such in this relationship, so as the cancer was said to have left her, we all celebrated this. Yet it did not leave completely, it only gave her more time to finish what she had started in life, not only to live but to show to others how to live better.
Touching the lives around her, she instilled to her children a sense of enjoyment they shall always remember her by. The light her eyes came from the happiness she saw in those around her, their lives most important to her. Her family shall remember this, taking it with them as they pass through the rest of their lives without her. This part of her is not gone, it stays with those who remember her and the love she gave them. A personal connection to those whose lives she saw as important to her life.
Communicating what was granted to another, back in return to those who were gracious enough to extend life to her. This connection lies throughout the human experience; it is ingrained into each of use to seek such connections with those around. To make our lives meaningful, we offer to return this meaning to those we touch in our journey. As in the end, it is by this connection with others value is seen through the social context which we offered in our lives. And value must be established, maintained, and reestablished by the social standards acceptable to all we called into our lives.
Seeking to be part of any society, we must accept to live by the mutually accepted standard, this to allow everyone equal means to offer value. For value is like any resource, it is limited only by the humans who are able to create it and thus offer it efficiently to others. As we miss others, we see the value they once offered to us gone, and this causes us pain for we in loss. Zonia was such a person; her family will feel loss extend throughout their lives. Knowing her was something one would not get over, nor ever feel right about missing her.
Personal value, self worth and all that goes with it has a cost; it is what we are able to return to others which is value. Value is seen by individuals who have a need, and the value of another’s life is one that fills the need another has. Zonia Pulse filled this need in so many lives her value to us all can not be replenished, nor forgotten. She may be gone, but what remains is the part of her she gave to those around, and it will stay until they are gone as well.
