After months of praying for a way to help her work smarter and not harder, Laurie was inspired to create ZOMM, a way to make sure that consumers would not lose their phone again.
The idea of ZOMM is pretty simple. Using BlueTooth technology to connect your BlackBerry to the poker chip sized device, you attach the ZOMM to your keychain and pretty much forget about it. If by some chance your keychain and BlackBerry are more than 30 feet away from each other, the ZOMM will begin to blink, vibrate, and buzz. This alerts you that you're walking away from your phone and should probably take a few steps backwards so you don't leave it at a restaurant table, movie theater, or any of the other crazy places countless people leave their phones on a daily basis.
On top of being a wireless leash that will help prevent you from losing your phone and all the private and personal information on it, the ZOMM also acts as a BlueTooth speaker for your BlackBerry.
Imagine you're driving on the freeway headed home from a long day. There's horrible traffic and your mood is increasingly getting worse. Your phone starts to ring, but its out of reach and you don't feel like digging all over the car to get it. With the ZOMM attached to your keychain, and your keys attached to your ignition, all you have to do is press and hold the single button on the ZOMM for about two seconds and you can take the call. The ZOMM features a great sounding speaker and a microphone that does a great job at picking up your voice. Not only is having the ZOMM as a BlueTooth speaker attached to your keys incredibly convenient, it's also super safe, especially with more and more cities making laws that prevent the use of cell phones while driving.
As if these two features weren't enough, the ZOMM adds one more kicker that really adds icing to an already delicious cake. When you're device is connected to your ZOMM, pressing and holding the button for about 8 seconds will automatically dial 911 and allow you to speak to an operator from the ZOMM. Imagine getting in a car accident where your phone is tossed all over your vehicle and you're unable to get to it. With the ZOMM, emergency assistance is just a press of the button.
With these three great features, the ZOMM is definitely a device that's worth investing in. I have one attached to my keychain and couldn't imagine how I would function without it. It's already helped me from leaving my phone behind on more occasions than I care to share.
