Zombie Walk takes over Monroe Street in Phoenix

It was once one of the most prestigious streets of Phoenix, Arizona. Only the elite families of the city lived along Monroe Street in their fine Victorian mansions. But once a year the thoroughfare comes alive, or should I say haunted by the “undead,” when the annual Zombie Walk part of the Phoenix Comicon takes over.

Sponsored by Easly’s Fun Shop, this parade of the walking dead commences each year just at dusk to give off an essence of terror to those lining the streets to watch.

This year’s 7th Annual Zombie Walk was led by several of the car clubs gracing Third Street. (between Monroe and Washington) The restored collectible cars, hearses, and other vehicles represented various sci-fi TV shows and movies.

Heading the zombie parade was “Dragula” created by Custom Coffin Works. The custom coffin vehicle was followed by the spooky Ecto limo, Zombie hunting unit, and the Zombie Patrol Car by the Willitmakeit team.

The Department of Zombie Defense and Umbrella Corp’s AZ Hive were on hand to battle the brain eating Zombies should they get combative and out of control. After all, no man, woman or child lining the streets of Phoenix was perfectly safe!

Zombies came out of the hidden underground to make this annual walk and to remind us “What would YOU do should a Zombie apocalypse should occur in your town?" Are you ready? Will you survive? From the safety of the sidelines the spectators watched as the Zombies disappeared into the night.
