In strange news today, it appears that the emergency zombie alert system works well in Great Falls, Mont. reports Io9 on Feb. 12. This after someone broke into the Emergency Alert System and interrupted regular television programming to give this announcement through all of Great Falls;
"Civil authorities in your area have reported that the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living. Follow the messages on-screen that will be updated as information becomes available. Do not attempt to approach or apprehend these bodies as they are considered extremely dangerous. This warning applies to all areas receiving this broadcast."
After the announcement was made on television, and interrupted programming, several people began panicking and at least four people called their local police station to check whether a zombie apocalypse was indeed happening. After several calls, KRTV the station that was apparently hacked, released a statement on the news stating;
"Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that "dead bodies are rising from their graves" in several Montana counties.This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency.Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets."
There is no word if the person or people that hacked into the system and made the announcement have been found and what sort of charges, if any, they will be facing.
