Since Season 2 of “Hawaii Five-0” there has always been an episode dedicated to Halloween, on or after October 31st. Their first Halloween episode aired, appropriately enough, on Halloween night in 2011 titled “"Ka Iwi Kapu" ("Sacred Bones"). One of its guest stars was Robert Englund, best known for his role as Freddy Kruger in “A Nightmare on Elm Street” film series fame. In Season 3 the episode "Mohai" ("Offering") aired nearly a week after Halloween due to the show’s brief hiatus. Like the title suggests, it had to do with a ritualistic sacrifice.
Now on Friday, November 1st, the night after Halloween, in Season 4 “Kupouli ‘la” (“Broken”) followed the tradition with a better late than never airing. This episode was part of Halloween week featuring an opening with a “sunset on the beach,” Hawaiian style screening of the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Fans and other participants, including Dr. Max Bergman -- the show’s Chief Medical Examiner and his girlfriend, were all dancing the “Time Warp” in their own Halloween costumes.
Out of nowhere a zombie-like man goes through the crowd selecting one victim. He tackles an unsuspecting man with a couple of bites. Good Samaritan Dr. Bergman was caught in the fray that later sent him to the hospital. Rumer Willis reprised her role from last season as Max’s girlfriend. Even though the episode was hyped to make viewers think it was all about zombies invading Honolulu, that wasn’t the case thankfully enough. Unfortunately it dealt with a far more sinister storyline. At least the beginning gave us “Let’s do the Time Warp again.”
