It may be Valentine’s Day, but a potential zombie apocalypse had the Canadian Parliament talking this Wednesday, Yahoo News reported this Feb. 14. Taking away from the tension of more pressing matters for a moment, the “impending” news of a zombie apocalypse seemed to be one of the hot-button issues at the debate in Canada today, leading to a very humorous situation that’s already set to go viral on YouTube.
The House of Commons meeting this morning eventually led to one Parliament member asking the Minister of Foreign Affair how the country would prepare for a zombie apocalypse. While a zombie apocalypse toolkit may have been the first response, the Minister appealed to the government to put in place measure to deal with a possible zombie attack or invasion.
“I don’t need to tell you, Mr. Speaker, that zombies don’t recognize borders. Zombie invasion in the U.S. could turn into a continent-wide pandemic if not contained.”
The chuckles and applause that quickly followed the statement let Canadians everywhere know that if laughter alone could prevent a future zombie apocalypse, there would be little need to worry.
The speaker replied, “Are we working with [our] American counterparts to develop an international zombie strategy so an invasion does not turn into a zombie apocalypse?”
