Former Bellator champion Zoila Frausto Gurgel has singed with Invicta Fighting Championships and will make her debut with the promotion in April.
The all-female MMA promotion made the announcement on Tuesday.
In her debut, the Cincinnati native will fight Jennifer Maia (6-2-1) in a 125-pound fight. Maia will also be making her debut with the promotion.
The “Warrior Princess” is coming off her first loss in over two years when she was defeated by Jessica Eye at Bellator 83 in December. It was Gurgel’s only second fight back since suffering a serious knee injury that kept her out of action for over a year.
Gurgel won the inaugural Bellator 115-pound title when she handed Megumi Fujii her first professional loss in 2010. The 29-year-old never defended her title but did go 2-1 in the 125-pound division after winning the title.
Gurgel’s younger sister, Stephanie Frausto, already fights for Invicta FC and is 1-1 in the organization. Gurgel is also married to UFC and Strikeforce veteran Jorge Gurgel.
