Zoey Deutch has now been officially cast to lead up the book-to-screen adaptation of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series, and she couldn't be more thrilled about her fortune of nabbing the role.
Speaking to MTV Hollywood Crush about the announcement, she gushed, "I can't believe it happened. It was yesterday."
According to her, the script adaptation for Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters which was written by Daniel Waters is a hoot and sets it well apart.
"It is so funny," Deutch explained. "The script is so funny and it is so interesting, and it's kind of ... I don't even know what kind of genre it'd be categorized in. It's very different. I'm really excited, and the tone is so interesting. And [director] Mark Waters, who I'm like a huge fan of, it's going to be really crazy ... such a crazy good character. Such a bad-ss."

Deutch also remarked that for her audition she'd already been training for the protective role and found the process to be very physically exhausting. "It's crazy! I'm so excited!"
Also currently attached to star in the film are Lucy Fry and Danila Kozlovskiy.
