Just when you thought the ABQ BioPark Zoo couldn't get any cooler, with their many exhibits, animals, trains, events and more, they go and install a zipline that can take passengers for a unique and exciting ride through the zoo. For a limited time, from May 23 to Sept 1 you can get clipped into the harness of the zipline while visiting the zoo. The Zoo Zipline is open Thursday & Friday from 9:30-4:30 and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30-5:30. The cost is $8 per ride and passengers must be over 40 inches tall and between 45-250 lbs. You can find the Zoo Zipline behind the Asia Train Station at the northwest end of the zoo near the cottonwood trees.
This adventure takes place 44 ft in the air with a 320 foot zipline. Passengers can find themselves going up to 32 miles per hour as they zip through the zoo. While you won't be ziplining past any animals, you will be near the elephants and can wave to the train as you zoom past it. Fly Wire Zipline assures passengers that ziplining is completely safe and they practice correct safety precautions and the safest equipment. Some visitors may be shy or nervous at first but often feel excitement and exhilaration once trying out ziplining. This is a new activity for many but is worth a try.
Admission to the ABQ BioPark Zoo is not included in the purchase of a zipline ticket. Members of the New Mexico BioPark Society get free admission into the zoo but it is unclear if they receive any discount for the purchase of a zipline ticket. There is also an admission discount for active and non-active military members. There are 4 days to get discount admission into the zoo during the zipline tour. On June 30th there is the Zoo Open House designed for the public to be part of the planning process for the BioPark. Admission to the Zoo is free this day. You can go during July Half-Price Weekend on either July 19 or 20. You can get in free on July 3rd between 6am-10am during the Free Summer Roadshows from 100.3 The Peak.
