A 130-over-average perfect game by Steve Zimmerman and an 816 series that included a 290 game by Ronnie Hayes are the headline items in this week's Examiner.com report of high scores from leagues at bowling centers in the Sarasota-Manatee-Charlotte County area.

Zimmerman entered this week's competition in the After Hours Bail Bonds/Frank Stagg League at AMF Venice Lanes with a 170 average, but after opening with a 151 game, he blasted 12 consecutive strikes in Game 2 before finishing with a 193 game to complete a 644 series.

Hayes, who certainly is no stranger to high-score performances, pounded out an 816 series that included 11 straight strikes to finish a 290 game in the Jeffcoat Blueprinting Invitational League at AMF Bradenton Lanes.

Far-over-average efforts included a 186-over 669 series by Devon Mertz -- on scores of 224, 235 and 210 -- in the La Malinche Restaurant League at Sarasota Lanes.

Other bowlers posting series of 140 or more over average included: Stewart Clark, a 182-over 725 on games of 233, 215 and 277 in the Amore's Italian Restaurant League at AMF Venice; Mike Hendrickson, a 151-over 715 on games of 219, 230 and 266 in the C&L Awards Mixed League at Sarasota Lanes; and Nelson Sherrill, a 148-over 751 on scores of 248, 247 and 256 in the Thursday Night Mixed League at Bowland Port Charlotte.
