Whenever a player taps a land from mana, that player adds one mana to his or her mana pool of any type that land produced.
Many Ravnicans think of nature as orderly groves and elf-tended rot farms. They haven't seen the Gruul wilds.
A 7/5 creature for just five mana is an impressive threat by itself, coming down as early as turn three with some help from Elvish Mystic and Farseek. On your next turn you should have enough mana to cast Worldspine Wurm, a massive Savageborn Hydra, Street Spasm with Overload, or Clan Defiance. Another idea might be to use Primal Surge.
The downside is that Zhur-Taa Ancient will double your opponent's available mana. Against a control deck, that could be setting them up to play an enormous Sphinx's Revelation. Aggressive red-black decks might tap all their lands to cast Dreadbore and Rakdos's Return.
Another negative is that Zhur-Taa Ancient doesn't have trample. One solution to an opponent's chump blocker however is that you'll be able to bloodrush Skarrg Goliath onto your beast and win just the same.
