Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Emerging from the Great Depression, Status Quo, and Racial Tension the female college community was in need of a change, a need for an organization to rise, one that believed in the inner values opposed to outer perception of beauty, one that believed that helping others and optimism through all adversities. Founded January 16, 1920, Zeta began as an idea conceived by five coeds at Howard University in Washington D.C.: Arizona Cleaver, Myrtle Tyler, Viola Tyler, Fannie Pettie and Pearl Neal. These five women, also known as our Five Pearls, dared to depart from the traditional coalitions for black women and sought to establish a new organization predicated on the precepts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love and Finer Womanhood. It was the ideal of the Founders that the Sorority would reach college women in all parts of the country who were sorority minded and desired to follow the founding principles of the organization. Founder Arizona Cleaver Stemmons was quoted to say “Let's establish a new sisterhood, and then to see it grow from five girls to the present status, indeed gives me quite a thrill. Yet, I am humble and grateful that so many have been and still are willing to go the Zeta way”.
Theta Zeta Zeta Chapter- was chartered in December 1976 in Dover, Delaware. The goal of the chapter is to support the ideals and programs of the National organization of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
KISH First Annual Women Destined for Greatness- Kingdom Investments in Single Hearts (K.I.S.H.) Home, Inc. was founded in August 2008 out of the desire to make an impact in the lives of young women who are presently in, or have aged out of the foster care system in Delaware. Kishma A. George is the President/CEO of K.I.S.H. Home, Inc. and Director of Women Destined for Greatness Mentoring Program. K.I.S.H. Home, Inc. offers women in Delaware the support they need to become emotionally stable and self- sufficient in every aspect of their lives and community. December 11, 2010 Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Theta Zeta Zeta Chapter joins K.I.S.H Home Inc. as they host the First Annual Women Destined for Greatness, where the light is shined on those that were once in the dark.
This event will be held at The Bread Of Life Christian Church, in Camden Wyoming, DE. Please join us as we celebrate those that defied the odds and continue to rise towards success.
