‘Zero Hour’ marks Anthony Edwards return to television after a decade (Photos)

Anthony Edwards returns to network television in the conspiracy-based ABC drama “Zero Hour” on Thursday, Feb. 14, the Inquisitr.com reported on Feb. 11. Edwards return to television in “Zero Hour” comes 10 years after his character, Dr. Mark Greene, died of cancer in an episode of the NBC hit drama “ER.”

Edwards did not plan to take a decade long break from television, but says after he left his role as Dr. Mark Greene on “ER” he was “tapped acting-wise, and the break was necessary.”

“I didn’t really have a plan other than I knew that I wasn’t going to jump into a series again and I knew that I was really tired and burnt out.”

After leaving “ER” Anthony Edwards, a California native, moved his wife and four children to New York. During his time away from acting his wife, who is an artist, established her career and then Edwards and his family and embarked on a 310-day trip around the world, visiting Africa, India, Southeast Asia and many other countries.

Edwards admits that he worried about “working too much and missing out on some precious date time.

“It sounds like ‘Howdy Doody’…But I’ve never net the older man who wishes he had spent less time with his kids while they were young. You don’t meet anybody who says, ‘God, I wish I had worked harder and was gone more.’”

On “Zero Hour” Edwards will portrays Hank Galliston, a magazine publisher wrapped up in an historical mystery after his wife is kidnapped. The action thriller requires the audience to concentrate as the story unfolds layer by layer.

Zack Estrin, one of the show’s four executive producers, hopes some viewers will tune into “Zero Hour” just to see what Anthony Edwards has been doing.

“It’s an honor when somebody who could have his choice of shows chooses yours. It’s like, the prom queen chooses you have a dance,” Estrin said.

“Zero Hour” also stars Carmen Ejogo and Jacinda Barrett. Most recently Ejogo appeared in the remake of the film “Sparkle,” which starred the late Whitney Houston and “American Idol” winner Jordon Sparks. Jacinda Barrett appeared on the MTV reality show “The Real World: London” and is a former model.
