Yesterday, Examiner.com had the opportunity to enjoy the New York Jets play against the Pittsburg Steelers with no other than teen actress, singer, and author, Zendaya Coleman. The youthful singer partnered with the NFL to debut their NFL Tweens & Juniors Apparel Collection.
Tweens and teens are very creative in the way they express themselves through fashion. That’s why the NFL is thrilled to celebrate its younger fans with apparel that provides girls the ability to develop their own individual style while supporting their favorite team.
Zendaya knows all about style but also enjoys sports and is excited that tweens and teens can be fashionable while enjoy their favorite NFL team; “I’m really happy that the NFL decided to do this line, because a lot of times there aren’t many things for younger girls to wear besides a regular jersey…we want to be a little stylish while rocking our teams, but we want to do it in a more feminine way with pretty tee-shirts.” Zendaya further described the NFL Tweens & Junior Apparel as, “Youthful…fun…and fresh.”
NFL Tweens & Juniors Apparel empowers your family’s “resident fashionista” to support her team and spend quality family time, all while looking age appropriate and cute. The majority of tweens and teens say they enjoy watching the games with their parents. This gives fathers a great opportunity to bond with their daughters and deepen their relationship. Watching games together, building rituals and expressing team pride builds strong positive childhood memories that will last a lifetime. Zendaya shares those exact sentiments and it was no surprise that she enjoyed yesterday’s game with her mother and father by her side. Zendaya further shared, “He used to be my PE teacher, so I grew up watching sports my whole life and always watching sports with my father, and I remember being a tomboy growing up with the oversized jerseys (laughs), so it’s pretty cool that the girls have this line now and little girls can watch the game with their fathers, but look a little more fashionable.”
Zendaya also shared with us what songs/artists she has on Replay, “I’m really have a crazy playlist that has everything from Luther Vandross to Chris Brown and then it will switch over to Bob Marley…I have a little bit of everything, I have Michael Jackson and my good old school stuff…I really just like having all my songs on shuffle and letting them play that way.” While Zendaya is getting a lot of buzz and positive feedback from her single “Replay” her fans (#ZSwaggers) are anxious to see what her next single will be, “I don’t know which one we are going to go with next, but I know it’s coming very soon…but I will say I’m already coming up with video ideas.”
Does Zendaya intend to make a drastic transition when she breaks away from Disney like some of her Disney counterparts? The answer is no, with Zendaya saying, “I’m a good kid, I never had any problems with my parents, I’m not a partying person, I am really the most boring teenager you’ll ever meet…on my days off, I stay home while eating ice-cream and watching Netflix. I never had any of those kinds of problems, and that is something that has been instilled in me ever since I was a little girl. The transition is based on how you do it, some people like to make a big switch out of nowhere and that’s not how I am going to do it. I am going to grow with my fans while at the same time not making stuff that only caters to the younger audiences.”
The NFL is excited to team with singer, actress and dancer, Zendaya. She brings a lively, customizable style to the NFL Tweens & Juniors Apparel collection. Zendaya embodies the ability for young girls to have fun, be comfortable and really own their own originality when it comes to fashion.
