Zendaya Coleman as Aaliyah? Fans are hoping it isn't so. After the announcement that the young actress would be the leading role in the Lifetime Biopic that is scheduled to start taping, the fans of the late entertainer have been outraged. Apparently, the actress isn’t the first choice for the fans to represent the talented artist. And it appears that Coleman might have been the last person to be considered by music lovers as the heat she is facing after the announcement has been intense. According to Madam Noire on Tuesday, there is a petition to stop the making of the movie as people are not exactly pleased at the selection of the star.

While Zendaya Coleman has responded to the negativity of the casting on Twitter, it seems that the show will go on when it comes to the casting of the role. While the fans who love Aaliyah and consider the idea to be a poor choice are being made out to look like “haters,” the reality is that Zendaya Coleman might not be the perfect choice for a legend who has a bigger name after her death than before she was alive. The big shoes that Zendaya must fill might be better suited for someone who really matches the late star instead of being a just a Disney Channel actress.

“It’s a terrible choice,” said Mille Frankleton of Compton. The fan of Aaliyah is outraged that the late entertainer is being sold out by a star with limited acting skills. “Aaliyah was the whole package and her memory deserves better. I am farthest from a hater. I loved Aaliyah and I want her memory to be respected by an accomplished actress.”

Zendaya, who prefers using just her first name, is well-known for co-starring on the show "Shake it Up!" The actress has also been a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars" in 2013. Looking to find more prominent roles, the response from the Aaliyah fans might not have been what the star was expected to receive. Now she needs to convince people she can handle the job. Or bow out knowing that her performance will be overly scrutinized.

Aaliyah Dana Haughton a well-known artist who was expected to be around for decades, died in a 2001 plane crash in the Bahamas. The plane crash took the life of the star along with the pilot and members of her video crew. She was 22.
