Zedd managed to bring out a very diverse crowd for his first night of sold-out shows for React Presents at the Aragon Ballroom. Fans of all ages came out to see the German DJ and producer spin a vast selection of both his own hits and other EDM mainstays of the last year. The energy in the room was undeniable and the crowd fed off of the energetic DJ who never stopped jumping around and dancing through his set.

Zedd opened and closed the show with his own track “Spectrum,” which features the vocals of Matthew Koma and comes from his debut album “Clarity.” The crowd then went wild when he dropped the title track “Clarity” right around midnight. Throughout the show Zedd would drop the volume and encourage attendees to sing along to songs like his current hit “Stay the Night,” which features Hayley Williams of Paramour.

Other musical highlights from the evening included unique mixes of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” Benny Benassi’s “Cinema” and Cash Cash’s “Take Me Home.”

Beyond the music Zedd brought to Chicago some of the best visuals and laser work ever seen on stage. The DJ spent the night between two massive screens displaying innovative 3D visuals that changed up with every song. He also brought the type of spanning lasers recently used to great effect on the Pet Shop Boys' “Electric Tour.”

Zedd discussed his Chicago shows with MTV and told them, "[It's] more than just a DJ set — it's more of a show, where we plan every single song and the visuals and the lights and the special effects. New Year's will just be a little bit more of everything."

Zedd shot to fame in the United States earlier this year with his hit song “Clarity” featuring the vocals of Foxes. The hit managed to garner the DJ fans across multiple genres and led to an amazing acoustic performance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” His album of the same name shot up the charts and became one of the most successful EDM releases of all-time. A deluxe version featuring his new single “Stay the Night” was recently released. In his downtime Zedd also produced songs for Lady Gaga’s “ARTPOP.”

Zedd’s “Moment of Clarity Holiday Tour” will return to the Aragon Ballroom for a sold-out New Year’s Eve performance tonight. Tickets can be found on the secondary market.

React Presents is Chicago’s premier promoter of EDM and the driving force behind the city’s reemergence as a major destination for the world’s best DJs. The company is set to bring their “Spring Awakening Music Festival” back to Chicago’s Soldier Field in 2014.
