Grammy.com reported yesterday that Zedd won his first Grammy Award at a pre-telecast ceremony. The German DJ and producer won the award for Best Dance Recording alongside vocalist Foxes for their hit song “Clarity.” The song was written by Zedd, Matthew Koma, Porter Robinson and Skylar Grey.
Zedd accepted the Grammy by saying, “I’m a little unprepared for this moment. Um..I want to thank Matthew Koma who wrote this song with me [and] obviously Foxes for singing this song. I want to thank my family and my team Dave, Tim, Lee, John, Matthew, [undecipherable], Brenda, Jimmy. I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot and I’m sorry for that.”
Foxes then jumped in and said, “I want to thank Zedd so much for giving me the opportunity this year to sing on this song and to take me on this journey. It’s been like a dream and I can’t believe it. This is otherworldly. Thank you so much to all the fans that bought the record. Thank you to Matthew Koma. Thank you mom. Thanks Dan and David, my managers. Thank you.”
Zedd added, “I want to say a really really big thank to a really good friend of mine Skrillex who is sitting there with us. He was one of the first people in the industry that believed in me and gave me the opportunity and we share the same team. Thank you very much you are one of my best friends and this award is for you.”
“Clarity” was a huge crossover hit here in the United States for the rising EDM star and managed to reach the number 2 spot on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart and number 8 on their Hot 100 chart. The track also conquered the Hot Dance Club Songs chart and managed to place fifth on the year-end Mainstream Top 40 chart.
Zedd also managed to release a brand new song “Find You” featuring the vocals of Matthew Koma from the film “Divergence” on iTunes yesterday.
