Zayn Malik is planning a carnival-themed party for the 21st birthday of his fiancée Perrie Edwards, who turns 21 on July 10, 2014. According to a Sunday Mirror report published on July 5, 2014, the party will be held at a fairground near the couple's London home and will include Ferris wheels, rides and sideshows.

An unnamed source told the Sunday Mirror: "She is so excited about her big birthday, and she loves fairs. She always has since she was a kid. She wants something fun and doesn’t want to go out and get hideously drunk. That’s not what she does. So she’s asked Zayn to get her a fairground near where they live in Barnet.

“He loves her so much and is determined to deliver exactly what she wants. He can’t wait, and neither can she. They’ve invited lots of friends and their families and they just want to have a laugh."

Malik turned 21 on Jan. 12, 2014.

As previously reported, Malik and Edwards got engaged in August 2013. The Daily Mirror broke the story of the engagement. A record-company spokesperson for One Direction later confirmed the news to People by commenting: "Zayn and Perrie are engaged, but any further detail regarding their relationship is private." The couple got engaged on Aug. 18, 2013, according to the Daily Mirror.

It's the first time that two singers from "The X Factor" U.K. have gotten engaged to each other. Malik and Edwards began dating in April 2012.

One Direction came third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. In 2011, Little Mix became the first group to win on "The X Factor" U.K.

Some media reports (including a BBC interview that Malik's mother, Tricia, did in December 2013) have claimed that Malik and Edwards might get married at the end of 2014, but it doesn't look that the wedding will take place this year.

In their interviews since the engagement, Malik and Edwards have both said that they have not made any definite wedding plans yet, although Edwards has mentioned that she wants to wear a vintage dress and if she could choose anyone to sing at the wedding, it would be former Journey lead vocalist Steve Perry.

Edwards' mother, Debbie Duffy, commented on the engagement in an interview with Real radio on Aug. 21, 2013: "I said, 'How’s long’s this going to be?' And she said, 'I don’t want a long engagement but I don’t want a quick one either.' I mean, obviously they've got so much to do. They'll wait till 2014, 2015 ... One Direction are doing so much and Little Mix are the same. They're out of the country most the time doing their promotion for this, that and the other, so it's just unbelievable. But I think they will eventually get together and set the [wedding] date."

One Direction (a male quintet) and Little Mix (a female quartet) were both formed in the same way. The members of each group originally auditioned for "The X Factor" U.K. as solo singers, but the show rejected them as solo singers, and they were put together in a group. One Direction's "X Factor" mentor was Simon Cowell, while Little Mix's "X Factor" mentor was Tulisa Contostavlos. (Contostavlos was fired from "The X Factor" U.K. in 2013.)

One Direction and Little Mix are both signed to Syco Music (which is co-owned by Cowell and Sony Music) and are both represented by London-based company Modest! Management.

In January 2013, Malik and Edwards went through a sex scandal when an Australian waitress named Courtney "CJ" Webb told The Sun that she had a one-night stand with Malik at his home while Edwards was away on a Little Mix tour. Edwards and Malik have not publicly commented on this infidelity allegation. Whatever problems the scandal caused, the couple overcame these problems since they have been seen looking very happy together.

Malik commented to Teen Vogue about their relationship: "We both understand each other ... It always seems that she's somewhere in the world when I'm somewhere else. But we're making it work."

In June 2013, Malik got a huge tattoo on his right arm of a young woman who looks like Edwards. The tattoo artist told MTV News that Malik said that the tattoo was inspired by Edwards. Fans had mixed reactions to the tattoo. Most people said that Malik will eventually regret getting the tattoo if he and Edwards break up.

And, of course, there are people who think that if Malik and Edwards do get married, the odds are that their marriage will end in divorce, especially they get married under the age of 25. Most celebrities who get married under age 25 eventually get divorced, especially if they are famous at the time of the marriage.

Malik's parents and Edwards' parents are divorced, which also increases the odds of a Malik/Edwards divorce if they get married, since studies haves shown that children of divorced or unmarried parents are more likely to get divorced. If you factor in the high divorce rate for celebrities in their first marriages, then the marriage seems doomed to end in divorce. Only time will tell if Malik and Edwards actually get married to each other and stay married to each other for the rest of their lives.

July 10, 2014 update: The Daily Mirror have details of Edwards' 21st birthday party, which was held at a park in Barnet, North London, on July 9, 2014. According to the tabloid: "A Ferris wheel, bumper cars, bouncy castle and coconut shy were all shipped in for the night – at a rumored cost of about £10,000. Perrie’s bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall were all there to toast the birthday girl, along with most of her and Zayn’s family."

After the party, Edwards tweeted: “I had the best day ever! Thank you everyone who came. I hope you all had a blast. I love you all! 21! Cannot believe it. I’m massively tired with a massive birthday spot.”
