Zayn Malik of the boy band One Direction is having a hard time handling fame according to what a band insider told Celebuzz.com and they reported on Feb. 6. Malik, 20, was "rocked to his core" when it became public that an ex-Australian stripper named Courtney Webb publicly announced that she and Malik had slept together behind Little Mix singer, Perrie Edwards, his girlfriend's back.
However, according to the insider, Malik was already having problems before that came out. Zayn who is from West Yorkshire, England, has realized how difficult it is spending so much time away from his close family. Simon Cowell, who is the band's record label chief, has even stepped in and promised that he won't overwork Malik or his band mates. Cowell even offered to let Zayn have some time off if he needed it.
The problem is that 2013 will tend to be very busy for the band. Their tour begins Feb. 23 in London ending in Tokyo, Japan on Nov. 3. They will have a break in August, but they will be busy promoting a concert movie and documentary that they will have finished while on the road. The insider source told Celebuzz that "there is growing concern among the bosses that Zayn is on the brink at the moment.”
The band insider stated:
“When something like that happens it rocks the mind of such a young star. Zayn just seemed lost for several days. But with the authority of Simon, he was given time off from band commitments and rehearsals to explain his situation to Perrie.
No one in the management wants Zayn to leave or even consider quitting, with days to go before their biggest tour ever. He is a lovely, caring and funny chap — but there is no doubt fame has changed his outlook.”
Reports have emerged that last year, Cowell had prepared a contingency plan just in case one of the band members leave One Direction in 2013. That outlook won't make fans of One Direction very happy especially since the insider said that members of Malik's family feel that it might be time for him to step down from the limelight.
