One Direction's Zayn Malik, 20, and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, 19, are determined to show the world that their relationship has not been destroyed by recent allegations that he cheated on her. On Feb. 7, 2013, Edwards tweeted a photo of her and Malik cuddling at Knowsley Safari Park (on the outskirts of Liverpool) in England, with this accompanying message: “Had an amazing day today at @knowsleysafari It was such a good day out! @zaynmalik."
The Knowsley Safari Park tweeted: "Yesterday the lovely Perrie of @LittleMixOffic & Zayn of @onedirection came to visit & took this photo of our lions!"
Malik and Edwards, who began publicly dating in April 2012, are both former "X Factor" U.K. contestants.
One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Little Mix was the winner of "The X Factor" U.K. in 2011. One Direction is the biggest worldwide act to emerge from "The X Factor" and 2012's best-selling U.K. group.
Insiders say that Malik is spending as much time as he can on Little Mix's 2013 U.K. tour (which launched Jan. 24 and ends Feb. 24) before One Direction begins its 2013 world tour on Feb. 22. The insiders also say that Little Mix is a frontrunner to be the opening act on the North American leg of One Direction's 2013 tour, which is another reason why it's important to many people for this couple to stay together.
Little Mix and One Direction are both signed to Syco Music and represented by Modest! Management. Little Mix's first album, "DNA," is due for a U.S./Canadian release in the summer of 2013 on a date to be announced, according to Syco Music/Columbia Records.
Malik reportedly asked for some time off from One Direction duties to spend time with Edwards on the Little Mix's 2013 U.K.tour. This may have sparked recent rumors that Malik is quitting One Direction this year, but sources say that the rumors aren't true and that Malik is committed to staying in One Direction, since the group is contractually obligated to tour and record a new album in 2013.
As previously reported, Malik was at Little Mix's concert at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Feb. 3, 2013. During the concert, he was seen shouting, "I love you Perrie!" from the VIP balcony. The couple also went shopping together in nearby Cheshire earlier that day and showing public displays of affection while shopping and backstage at the concert.
Malik is no doubt putting more of an effort into spending time with Edwards, because in late January 2013, Australian waitress and former stripper Courtney "CJ" Webb, 21, accused Malik of cheating on Edwards. In an interview with The Sun tabloid, Webb claimed that she and Malik had a one-night stand at his London home on Jan. 23, 2013, and Webb said that at first Malik lied to her by telling her that he didn't have a girlfriend.
Webb also claimed that after she and Malik had sex, she realized that Malik had a girlfriend when she saw some of Edwards' belongings in Malik's home. According to Webb, Malik later admitted that he had a girlfriend who was away on tour. Webb took photos of Malik sleeping in bed as proof of their alleged one-night stand. The photos were published by The Sun and are all over the Internet.
Malik, Edwards and their representatives have not publilcy commented on the scandal or Webb's allegations.
Reactions from fans on the Internet have been mixed. Some people think that Webb is lying, while others think she is telling the truth. Not surprisingly, most people who think that Webb is lying think that Malik and Edwards (who are nicknamed "Zerrie" as a couple) should stay together, while most who believe that Malik cheated think that Edwards should have dumped him.
