One Direction's Zayn Malik, 20, and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, 19, have now made it officially public that they are still a couple, despite the recent sex scandal in which Malik was accused of cheating on Edwards. On February 3, 2013, several pictures taken by paparazzi and fans surfaced on the Internet, and the photos show Malik and Edwards holding hands, shopping together, and looking very happy that day in Cheshire, England. Little Mix performed a concert in nearby Liverpool that night at the Liverpool Echo Arena.
Malik was also at the concert, and in some of the Internet photos, he is seen waving to the crowd as he watched the concert from a balcony. Malik's and Edward's divorced mothers were also at the concert. A photo surfaced on the Internet of the mothers kissing Edwards on the cheek at the same time backstage at the concert.
Earlier that day, Malik and Edwards were seen shopping together in Cheshire. At one of the stores, he bought her a teddy bear that says, "I love you." Edwards is seen holding the teddy bear in the photos that are on the Internet.
Malik and Edwards are both former "X Factor" U.K. contestants. One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Little Mix was the winner of "The X Factor" U.K. in 2011. Edwards and Malik met in late 2011, and they began publicly dating in April 2012.
As previously reported, Edwards was also seen leaving Malik's London home after spending the night there on February 1, 2013. Malik told The Sun that he and Edwards are currently "just fine." It was his first public comment about the status of his relationship with Edwards since the sex scandal broke.
The comment was part of a One Direction interview that was published exactly one week after The Sun published an explosive interview in which a 21-year-old Australian waitress named Courtney "CJ" Webb claimed that she had sex with with Malik and spent the night with him at his London home on January 23, 2012.
Webb, a former stripper, took photos of Malik sleeping in bed as proof of their alleged one-night stand. According to Webb, Malik was the one who made the sexual advances and he lied to her by saying he didn't have a girlfriend. After they had sex and Webb had noticed some of Edwards' belongings in Malik's home, he admitted that he had a girlfriend who was away on tour.
Little Mix's 2013 U.K. tour launched on January 24 and ends on February 28.
One Direction's 2013 world tour begins in London on February 22 and will go to Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia for the next eight to nine months
Whether Webb's accusations are true or not, it's now obvious that Malik and Edwards have put the scandal behind them and are very much together.
February 5, 2013 update: The Daily Mirror reports that Malik was seen shouting, "I love you, Perrie!" as he watched the Little Mix concert in Liverpool. He was also seen backstage being friendly with Perrie's mother.
An unnamed source commented to the Daily Mirror about Malik and Edwards' relationship: “It’s well and truly on. They are determined to work through this and were all over each other at the end of the show. The fact that Zayn is talking – and still friendly – with Perrie’s family speaks volumes. It’s all systems go. It may seem a strange decision to some but who knows what goes on behind closed doors.”
