ZAP is not an app...it's San Francisco's January 2014 Zinfandel Experience!

Zinfindel lovers' alert: don't overlook ZAP. It's not just another app for your phone. It's the re-imagined All New Zinfandel Experience in San Francisco brought to you by Zinfandel Advocates & Producers. If you liked the Zinfandel Festival of years past, you will love the 2014 Zinfandel Experience.

What's new?

The venue. Zinfandel winemakers are waiting to meet you and to serve you. The sip and savor, chat and mingle experience has moved to a new setting in San Francisco's gorgeous Presidio on Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Why the change?

Feedback. Three intimate settings in the Presidio's fresh eucalyptus and fir-scented air replace one huge convention-type room, making conversations over Saturday Tasting Tracks much more enjoyable for both consumers and winemakers alike.

Park and walk (recommended and delightful), use the 43 Muni bus, or use free shuttles between the Saturday venues: Herbst at the Presidio, the Film Center, and Observation Post. Presidio parking beats downtown any day.

Choose from three tracks or do them all: Sensory Tasting, Terroir Tasting, Reserve & Barrel Tasting experiences, combining your two-hour sessions in whatever order you wish. Shop at the event's own general store and grab a bite from the gourmet food trucks on hand from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

What's the same?

Some great stuff stays the same, or gets better with age! Epicuria Food & Wine Pairings, an informal dine-around experience featuring wine and food pairings from master chefs and 30-plus wineries is back. With one look out of the floor-to-ceiling windows, you'll see why everyone is excited that the new venue is the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio. Details: Thursday, January 23, 2014. First sessions begin at 10:00 a.m. and the last sessions end at 6:00 p.m.

Flights! Forums of Flavors is back, too. It's a tasting seminar that will up your know-how on characterful wines with an assist from the Historic Vineyard Society pros. The date is Friday, January 24, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the place is San Francisco's Four Seasons Hotel. First-come, first-served on limited ticket sales for highly allocated, limited production, classic old vine Zins.

Wine Makers Dinner & Auction is back on Friday evening, January 24, 2014, at a new venue, too. Dress the part and come to the Four Seasons Hotel where Executive Chef Mark Richardson is preparing a 1940s-themed dinner to accompany Zins shared by 18 producers. Join a winemaker at your dinner table for intimate conversation and fun auction bidding over wines specifically selected -- exclusively poured -- for this fundraiser to benefit ZAP education and Heritage Projects.

"Zinfandel is like your friend who is the life of the party. It creates conviviality and fun in a way that other varietals just don't." - Joel Peterson, Ravenswood Winery and ZAP Board Member

Cheers!
