Evidently, this peanut butter and bacon sandwich has been around for years, originating as a recipe on the back of worcestershire sauce bottles. If you're feeling adventurous, try it. You may really like it! You can try this savory spread on crackers for Susquehanna Valley parties, too. It was recently served at a successful Millersville backyard bash.
I've added a couple of ideas for other peanut butter sandwiches that aren't out of the ordinary, but you may not have had them in a while. One of them features local Dutch Gold honey!
Zany Peanut Butter and Bacon Sandwich
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 2 strips crumbled bacon
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons minced onion
- 2 slices of bread
Mince the onion. Measure and stir together all the ingredients. Scoop onto bread, and spread it around. Put a second piece of bread on top. (Cook the bacon in the microwave for less fuss and muss.)
Three Sweet Peanut Butter Sandwich Ideas
1. Spread peanut butter on bread. Top with local Dutch Gold honey.
2. Another good one is to add a layer of sliced bananas to your peanut butter.
3. Then, of course, there's the classic peanut butter and marshmallow fluff combo, known as a fluffernutter.
All three of these sweet variations are favorites with kids!
