There is a lot going on with Zak Bagans and his Ghost Adventures. The new season starts in September and promises to be full of important lock-downs. Zak revealed that they will be locked down in such places as Ashland Estates, which is their opening episode of this season. Other sites investigated are; The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose California, Old Town San Diego, and the historic Mizpah Hotel in Nevada.
Terra-When I watch the original documentary in which you investigated Virginia City, Nevada and The Goldfield hotel also in Nevada, yourself, Nick and Aaron were just some guys trying to catch some paranormal activity on film. In the doc you explain your experience that made you a believer. (READERS; If anyone hasn't seen this film, it's for sale on Amazon and I believe can be streamed online, check it out.) How did you go from that doc to the TV show?
Zak-The documentary was made with no budget and was never meant to become a series, it grew from a fascination. It was just the three of us trying to capture paranormal activity. When I watch the film now, we have evolved so much since then. I started out evoking demons and often suffered the consequences myself and also our families. If you are going to provoke demons, you have to be ready to fight back. I've toned it down a bit .
I know some people disagree with evoking demons. I don't really care what people think. People either love us or they hate us, just like many have a love/hate relationship with the president. I'm going to get the evidence. It's like the men from 'Fire in the Sky, (a film account of a very well documented alien abduction), the guy was taken into the UFO, while his friends watched. When he was finally dropped back to earth, he wasn't himself anymore, he looked at everything differently and he wanted to share his experiences.
Terra-Tell me about the scientific aspects of hunting you use during lock-downs. Your show has been a pioneer with scientific equipment.
Zak-This new season will feature a lot of scientific technology. We have been working people such as Dr. Andrew Nichols from 'The American Institute of Parapsychology'. We did a study together and found that certain people are catalysts. Some people try and try but never see or feel anything. You can put two different teams in the same location and come away with different evidence. Aaron, Nick and myself kind of form a triangle. We can sense things when were together. When we first started out we couldn't do this, however, we can now tell if there is something around.
We did the experiment at the Stanley Hotel. (The following information about this new equipment is from Blogmatic3000 . Bill Chapel brought in something brand new to the field of paranormal investigation; Sonar. A form of sonar capable of detecting not only the slightest movement from the smallest object (Of varying densities), But also temperature variances around the objects being scanned, Or “Pinged” as it’s called.
Zak-Nothing happened with the Sonar for a couple of hours. I finally walked off camera to talk to Bill and I felt an energy around me. When I walked back into camera range it followed me and a photo was taken that showed a black mass.
We did another, very exciting, experiment at The Winchester Mystery House with Joshua Warren . We did a long distance phone call with a satellite phone connected to Bob Mackey's and one other location. We were able to speak to spirits and get intelligent responses. The more people you have working with you is how you get your evidence.
Terra-Will there be another season of Paranormal Challenge?
Zak-We don't know yet, but we will let you know. It's going to be interesting on this week's Paranormal Challenge. We have a skeptic as a judge. He actually fabricates some stories about Linda Vista Hospital to see if the contestants are influenced by those stories. Watch to see what happens.
Fans will watch the show in droves Zak, that is for sure.
Zak Bagans is an intelligent, passionate man when it comes to the paranormal. I whole heartedly believe that it is by his efforts and the efforts of people of his quality that the truth will be revealed.
I would like to thank Zak and the fine people at the Travel Channel for helping me with this interview.
