The question of who makes the best take-out coffee has been brewing (sorry about the pun) for quite a while. The results are in at Zagat where, for this year's Fast Food Survey, over 6,000 fast-food fans expressed their opinions on coffee.
Best Coffee
- Starbucks Coffee
- Dunkin' Donuts
- Peet's Coffee & Tea
- McDonald's
- Caribou Coffee
I love Starbucks, but I tend to think that a mere 6,000 people don't a King of Coffee make. The results may well be indicative of the number of loyal customers rather than the quality of the coffee. For instance, I might have taken the survey and voted for Starbucks. But what Zagat wouldn't have known is that I've never tasted Dunkin' Donuts, Caribou, or Peet's Coffee. (I've brewed Peet's at home, but not had a cup from one of their stores.) And I haven't had McDonald's coffee in years. So, how valid would my vote be? How can something be judged the best when it hasn't been compared to the competitors?
I'd be interested to hear your comments.

Excellent point, Kim! You just illustrated the flaw in all the "best of" lists where systematic and impartial judging is not used. Great article!
The best fast food coffee? Isn't that like winning the Taliban's humanitarian award?
Maybe some people associate good coffee with strips of mechanically separate chicken dunked in high fructose corn syrup, but I don't.
Greg, LOL. Now, Zagat did not say it was GOOD coffee. ;)
Mary Ann, thank you. I'm thrilled to have a comment from a seasoned (oh, the pun) Examiner such as yourself. :)
