Zack Sucher begins the weekend in first place on the Tour

Round two of the Tour Midwest Classic concluded on Friday July 25 at the Nicklaus Golf Club at Lionsgate. The overnight leader Paul Haley II dropped to fifth place at the end of day two posting four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey to shot an even par round.

Zack Sucher began the round at five under par and began Friday’s round on the first tee where he made birdie. He made par on number 2, birdie on 3, and par on 4 before making his first bogey on number 5. He followed the bogey up with a birdie and par before making his final bogey of the day on number 8. He matched the bogey with a birdie on 9 to make the turn at 33. On the back nine, he made par on 10, birdie on 11 and par on 12. On the par five 13th hole, he made an eagle 3. He completed his round par, birdie, birdie, par, and birdie to lead the tournament at 13 under par.

Jason Gore finished his second round in second place at 11 under par, posting eight birdies on his bogey free round. One stroke back of Gore is Aaron Watkins who posted seven birdies and one bogey for a total of 10 under par. At the end of round two Bill Lunde sat in fourth place with an eight under par.

Shane Bertsch, Steve Allan, Kyle Reifers, and Paul Haley II finished round two at seven under par and tied for fifth place. Steve Aker, Luke List, Chris Smith, Zack Fisher, Martin Piller, Mark Hubbard, Wil Collings, Josh Anderson, Jarrod Lyle, Derek Fathauer, and Steve LeBrun all finished tied for ninth at six under par.

The cut was established at one under par at the end of the second day. Play continues at Lionsgate on Saturday morning.
