Yesterday's news that Zack Snyder(Watchmen) was taking on a samurai-influenced Star Wars film was a bit of a bombshell, and it didn't take long before folks on all sides came out to substantiate it or shoot the story down. Snyder's reps spoke to THR, and said that the director isn't working on any Star Wars film, be it a spinoff or sequel...
"While he is super-flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia.”
Vulture, who broke the original report, defended the story and the accuracy of its sources, saying that Snyder "recently flew up to Marin County to meet with Lucasfilm execs about the project." They also note the possibility of political ramifications, as Warner Bros. could be eager to keep Snyder for any potential Man of Steel sequels. Variety's Jeff Sneider also came out and backed up Vulture's claim...

So who to believe? Time will eventually tell, but it should be noted that Vulture is usually pretty good with these things, and if I recall were the ones who broke the news of Michael Arndt writing Star Wars: Episode VII.
