This week's new concert announcements featured shows by Shinedown guitarist Zach Myers, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (Sean Lennon's latest project), and The Voice alum Jared Blake. Here are the details.
Shinedown's Zach Myers and Justin Moore of the alternative roots rock group Ingram Hill will team up for an acoustic show at Wooly's in Des Moines on April 21. The show will be an all ages event and will start at 7:30 p.m. with Toronto alt-rockers Like a Storm and Des Moines rockers Hollowpoint serving as openers. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door.
Sean Lennon (son of John and Yoko's son) and his girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl bring their avant-garde folk project The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (or The GOASTT, for short) to Wooly's on May 29 for an 8 p.m. show. The duo met at the 2004 Coachella Music Festival and instantly hit it off. The band, named after one of Muhl's short stories, has a new album entitled Midnight Sun due out on April 29. Tickets for the all ages show are $15, and they will go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. Psychedelic U.K. act Syd Arthur will open the show.
Jared Blake, who competed on Season 1 of NBC's The Voice, will play Whiskey Dixx on March 21. Blake's single "Countryfied" (see accompanying video) is being played on over 120 country radio stations nationwide, and his first album is expected to drop this spring. The concert will be filmed for network television series pitch. This will be a 21+ show, and Whiskey Dixx has not announced whether or not there will be a cover charge yet.
