The episode begins with Galifianakis thanking Bieber, or “Justin Beevers” as he’s dubbed in the credits, for coming on the show, “especially right in the middle of your public meltdown.” Incredibly, it only get more uncomfortable from there, as Galifianakis refers to him as a 7-year-old, asks him “what was the last toy you got in a Happy Meal,” and eventually whips him with his belt for being a “young punk.”
Even for a show that’s the comedy equivalent of walking in on your parents having sex, this installment is brutal to watch. Galifianakis asks him pointed questions that include “when you’re in the recording studio, do you ever think, ‘hey, what if I don’t make something sh**ty?,’” “Is it fun to be cocky,” and, immortally, “you’ve had three hairstyles. What’s next for your career?”
And that’s not even the half of it. Basically, if you’re one of the many who is or has become disillusioned with Bieber-Fever, this is the interview you would conduct. Bieber himself deserves credit for playing along with Zach G, except that, wait, no, he’s Bieber, he gets nothing resembling praise.
