Zachary "Zac" Efron, 23 on October 18, 2010, is an actor, singer, and dancer who began acting professionally in the early 2000s, and became known to young audiences after his roles in the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical, Summerland, and the 2007 film version of the Broadway musical Hairspray.
In 2007 Rolling Stone declared Zac Efron the "poster boy for tweenyboppers" and featured him in their late August 2007 issue. Efron has since starred in the films 17 Again, Me and Orson Welles, and Charlie St. Cloud.
Charlie St. Cloud is Efron's latest film project. The film is a romantic drama film, released late summer 2010, and based on Ben Sherwood's best-selling novel, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud published in 2004 by Bantam Books.
The film also stars Amanda Crew, and the story is of Charlie St. Cloud's choice between keeping a promise he made to his brother, who died in a car accident, or going after the girl he loves. Charlie St. Cloud available on DVD November 9, 2010.
