Zac Efron gets positive reviews for 'Me and Orson Welles,' which arrives in theaters on December 4th.
In a movie quite different from the High School Musical franchise and bubblier comedies like 17 Again, teenage heartthrob Zac Efron takes a shot at serious filmmaking in Richard Linklater's Me and Orson Welles, a PG-13 movie set in 1937 about the director's production of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar at the Mercury theater.
Zac Efron's character, a young aspiring actor, finds himself involved in the whirlwind action and falling in love.
In the always respected New York Times film review of Me and Orson Welles, A.O. Scott writes, "While Mr. [Zac] Efron may not conjure images of magnificence, he does well as the audience’s surrogate, an eager and affable adventurer in the enchanted realm of the theater."
Meanwhile, in the more blockbuster oriented Rolling Stone magazine review, Peter Travers writes, "What do you say about a movie that proves Zac Efron can act, introduces a master thespian in Christian McKay and launches a charm assault that is damn near irresistible? I say, see it."
Romina Massa, also the West Palm Beach Television Examiner, may be over twenty, but she is not too old to be forever young (yet). Furthermore, she likes to know which movies the young ones are watching these days, in the hopes of figuring out what (and who!) motivates and inspires them. After all...
I would definitely see this movie is I could find somewhere relatively close to me where it is playing. At this time it is in limited theaters---and those are not easy to locate. Any suggestions? Any websites to check to find what theaters in each state are airing this?
@Karen The movie opened in theaters today! If you type the title in Google plus your zip code you should be able to find most showing times and theaters. :)
