Thunderstorms in Kansas City, Mo. led to the delay in the start of the final round of the Kansas City Amateur Championship at Shoal Creek Golf Course. With thunderstorms moving through the area overnight and early morning, starting times were moved back one hour and 45 minutes.
In the Open Division Zac Dittmer of Kansas City, Mo. held on to his overnight lead to finish in first place at eight under par. Dittmer posted three birdies and two bogies on his way to the winners circle. Overland Park, Kan. resident Alex Higgs shot a one under par third round to post a total of six under par for the tournament and to take second place. Cameron Wiltse of Overland Park, Kan. completed the third round at one under par and posted a total of two under par for the tournament and third place.
In the Players Division Justin Howard of Overland Park, Kan. held on to his overnight lead to finish in first place at two over par for the round and eight over par for the tournament. Curt Marchand from Prairie Village, Kan. finished the tournament at 24 over par, six over par for round three. Third place honors went to Patrick Hansen of Kansas City, Mo. who posted a 13 over par third round and 28 over par for the tournament.
Steve Groom of Raytown, Mo. finished the tournament with an even par round and his seven under par score for the three days proved enough to award him first place in the Senior Division. Andy Sandy from Gladstone, Mo. shot two under par for round three and finished at three under for the tournament. Leawood, Kan. resident Don Walsworth finished the tournament at even par tied with John Samples of Kansas City, Mo. for third place.
The Legends Division ended with Tom Bachelor of Olathe, Kan. holding on to first place with a total of three over par for the tournament. Second place resulted in a tie at 14 over par between Jim Lodes from Lenexa, Kan. and Ron Brewer of Leawood, Kan.
