On January 29, the 2014 ACM Awards nominees were announced. Zac Brown Band is among the nominees for Vocal Group of the year. Celebrity guests took on the job of revealing the nominees on behalf of the Academy of Country Music. The nominations were revealed through the Academy’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Zac Brown Band’s current album “Uncaged” has a distinctly different sound than what fans were used to from the band. Though the band members are talented musicians, for fans who had come to love the festive, beach party atmosphere songs or sweet ballads such as Colder Weather, the heavy instruments of this album may just sound like a lot more noise.

While “Uncaged” did win a GRAMMY in 2013, it hasn’t performed as well as their previous albums when it comes to chart listings and overall sales. Whether this will hurt Zac Brown Band’s chances at the ACM Awards is unknown. They are up against some consistently great competition in Little Big Town as well as Lady Antebellum, Eli Young Band and The Band Perry.

Fans can tune in to see Zac Brown Band and the other nominees on CBS on Sunday, April 6 as the 2014 ACM Awards broadcast live from Las Vegas.
