According to an article Monday on ProMMAInsider.com, Yushin Okami was not in the unemployment long for very long.
Okami had been released about two weeks ago by the UFC in a move that many found to be puzzling considering he had amassed an impressive 13-5 record inside the Octagon. The knock on him had been that even though he was successful in the cage, his style was less than fan-friendly. He is expected to make his WSOF debut sometime early next year.
His last appearance in the UFC came on Sept. 4, when Ronaldo Souza knocked him out at UFC Fight Night 28. He originally appeared in the organization back in 2006 when he beat Alan Belcher by decision. Besides Belcher, he also holds victories over such notable fighters as Nate Marquardt, Evan Tanner, Mark Munoz and Hector Lombard. At UFC 134 he challenged Anderson Silva for the middleweight title, losing by second-round TKO in a rematch of a fight Okami had won years earlier outside of the UFC.
