As the New Year begins, the Yuma Fine Arts Association will be offering new workshops, the first of them being a class taught by professional artist, Carly Landry on the basics of acrylic painting. During this workshop, artists will be guided through a step-by-step process to recreate the unique snow covered branch painting featured in the image of this article. This class is perfect for a new artist who might be curious about painting, but will also benefit more advanced artists who are looking to experiment with different paint, tools and styles.
Carly will be teaching the various techniques she uses as a painter, such as layering, creating the appearance of texture and light with paint, and experimenting with different types of acrylics. Both brushes and palette knives will be used during the class on a 9" x 12" canvas with explanation and demonstration of the various uses for the tools during painting. By the end of this fun and easy workshop, students will be amazed at the work of art they have created and have a unique new painting to take home.
The class will be held at the Yuma Art Center on January 18th, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Cost for the class is $20 per student and will include all of the supplies that are needed. Space is limited, so register as soon as possible. Registration for the class is through the Gift Shop, located inside the Yuma Art Center building at 254 S. Main St, Yuma, AZ 85364. Call for registration or more information at (928) 329-6607 between the hours of 10:00am to 5:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
