Yum!

What does KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut have in common? Well, other than being delicious, they are also owned by the same corporation. Yum! Brands is a major fast food corporation that is based in Louisville, KY. Their headquarters is the former headquarters of KFC. It is also the world's largest fast food company with over 38,000 restaurants in 120 countries.

The company began as Tricon Global Restaurants in 1997, and was a break away company from Pepsi, Co. As a result of their relationship with Pepsi, only Pepsi products were sold in their restaurants for many years. In 2002 the company merged with Lexington-based Yorkshire Global--owners of A&W and Long John Silvers--and renamed the company Yum! Brands. In 2003 the company launched Wingstreet with some of their Pizza Hut franchises.Long John Silvers and A&W were both sold to other companies in 2011.

Since 2006 Yum! Brands has been a sponsor of the Kentucky Derby. The company also owns the naming rights to the Louisville basketball arena, the KFC Yum! Center.
