Two issues that transitioning student ages 14 to 21 often have in school are Time Management and Problem Solving Skills. They don’t understand they have to schedule things, schedule appropriately, and leave themselves enough time to complete their work. Students also don’t understand how to look at a problem and what the steps are in order to solve that problem. Therefore, on Saturday November 2nd from 1til 4pm the Youth Statewide Initiate along with Abilities in Motion will be hosting a regional session for youth ages 14-24 covering theses issues. Some of the things addressed in these issues will be leadership, advocacy, peer support, networking, community resources, self determination, and anti-bullying.
This program is funded through a contract awarded that the statewide independent living counsel, and the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Seating is limited, so you have to register as soon as possible. This event will be held at Abilities in Motion 210 North 5th Street, Reading, PA 19601. Events like these occur frequently throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Students will learn these skills from other youth who have been through the transition process and have learned from their journey. This is a truly a youth driven event, in order to register please email Jaclyn Kratzer at email@example.com or Marybeth Morgan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
